Reducing Bills

Saving money isn't the most interesting of topics, but it is a necessity with more doom and gloom in the financial markets recently.

There are several ways to cut down on the bills - cutting down on takeaways/ restaurant meals - these can easily cost £20 a head, more in a restaurant, and the savings can really add up. the same goes with cinema tickets, at £15 at least per person, especially if you have popcorn and a drink there are major savings to be made. Replace cinema trips and movie TV channels with a DVD subscription service and you can still keep entertained for a fraction of the cost.

Heating is a colossal cost and now that it has gone up it is a higher percentage of the cost for the average person. Try and cut down on heating. Turn off immersions, TVs and lights when finished with them. Try and enter a fixed price plan and if you can afford it increase your energy efficiency by improving insulation. These will all lower heat costs and mean that you save on your heating costs.

As far as broadband goes – do a speed test. Many providers advertise speeds you won’t get near. If your provider claims 40mps and you only get 5mps then switch to a 10mps contract. It will cost less and you will still get at least 5mps.

Finally, coupons are a great way to save. Daily deals sites and coupon sites such as vouchercodes.co.uk offer fantastic deals and they are sent to your inbox every morning. Keep an eye out for the types of deals that you need and purchase them in advance of when you need them. You can get everything from cheap haircuts to lower priced clothes and food with these sites and so can work out to save a bomb with a little preparation.

Saving is easy and takes a little organisation. This can all lead to a better life with more money saved for that rainy day.
