Is terrible weather a result of climate change?

With the recent news of a second year the Pakistan flooding has been suggested to be a consequence of global climate change.

In the developed world, mostly, we are not directly affected by climate change, Australia arguably being the exception. Until this happens, we all know cutting down on road travel, recycling more etc is probably a good idea, but we are less likely to actually make concious changes to our lifestyles until we see direct benefits.
